Made it home shortly before 22:00. It took 1 year to plan my road trip to Norway and now it is all over.
Made it home shortly before 22:00. It took 1 year to plan my road trip to Norway and now it is all over.
In less than 3 hours I made it to Zierikzee on the Dutch coast in the Zeeland region, where I will spend my final night abroad.
2 nights in the Netherlands now – one night here in Venlo – tomorrow an easier day, just a 2 hour drive to get to Zierikzee on the Dutch coast – and then back to Gloucestershire on Sunday.
Beaches all across the country are dotted with lots of ‘Strandkorb’ (think beach deck chair but in a large basket-type thing which gives protection from sun, wind and rain).
Arriving in Germany did rather feel like arriving back at home. Suddenly we’ve travelled from a country where I don’t understand the language at all, to a country whose radio stations I can listen to and understand.
With no clouds in the sky it was very hot this afternoon so perfect beach weather!
The route to Copenhagen took us over the Great Belt Bridge (Storebæltsforbindelsen) – and in driving over this bridge we left Fyn and arrived on the island of Sjælland.
It was around 8 when we arrived at our overnight stop in Odense, the 3rd largest city in Denmark and the largest city on the island of Funen (Fyn). Continue reading
From the map it looks quite simple: Long straight roads. The trouble is there are lots of cross-roads and I hadn’t a clue as to who was meant to give way to who. Neither, it seems, did the Norweigans.
Norway felt more different, for some reason. Yellow road markings for a start. I don’t think I’ve ever seen those outside of Greece before.
