10 Days To Go… Corinium Radio’s Broadcast Is Fast Approaching
This is my site Written by Fred Hart on June 25, 2013 – 23:07

It is now just ten days until Corinium Radio is back on air in Cirencester. The radio broadcast is the busiest time of year for me and my team of technicians.

A team of three, we are the ones who get the studio set up in working order and do much of the tech stuff, without which there would be no broadcast at all!

As you can imagine having this much responsibility is scary, and we spend a large amount of time testing equipment before we go on air, making sure everyone knows how it all works and what to do when it all goes wrong.

We’ve got several Outside Broadcasts to get sorted which has taken up most of my afternoon/evening, and there’s still loads to do. We’ve got to edit a number of programmes to prepare them for broadcast. Live bands will need to be miked up – and for that we’ll be using our own personal laptops and mixing desks.

I must admit that I’m already tired, and we’re still a week away from the broadcast!

I do have to say though that I am very much looking forward to being back on air today. I’ll be allowed near a microphone too – I’m on the Breakfast shift this time: presenting between 7am to 9am on Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July 2013. On all 3 days I’ll be on news duty until midday. After midday things get quieter, I’ll be the continuity announcer between pre-recorded programmes, I’ll be editing things, running the tech side of things during live programmes, and squeezing in a bit of time for lunch and dinner.

Its been too long since we were last on air at Corinium. The broadcast weekend can’t come soon enough for me.

Still lots to do though. Editing tomorrow, most of the broadcast is sitting on my laptop at the moment!

I’m going to get to bed now. I’m trying to train myself to get back in to my normal routine of bed at 11, get up at 6, ready for my three early starts next week.

Bye for now!

FH.
