Yes, Prime Minister Is Back
This is my site Written by Fred Hart on January 6, 2013 – 10:51

Great news for those who, like me, are huge fans of the British TV sitcom Yes, Prime Minister: the show returns to our TV screens in just over a week.

The new series, starring David Haig as Jim Hacker, starts on the commercial TV channel Gold on Tuesday 15 January.

It’s the present day and the Rt. Hon Jim Hacker is back in office as Prime Minister, leading a coalition government confronting the greatest economic crisis in a generation.

European economies are going down the toilet, there’s a tempting energy deal on the table from an unusual source, a leadership crisis with his coalition partners, a Scottish independence referendum and the greatest moral dilemma Hacker has ever faced.

Gold: Yes, Prime Minister

I am looking forward to seeing the new series. Its not a channel that we can get on Freeview here (its not broadcast from the Cirencester Relay Transmitter – though some in Ciren get their TV signals from other transmitters, and can pick up the full selection of channels).

But the good news is that by the time the new series starts, I will be back at uni in Cheltenham where I can pick up Gold: I am planning to record the programme (Windows Media Center is great for that) so that I can then burn it to DVD and Mum and Dad will be able to watch it as well.

The new series of Yes Prime Minister will be followed by a short documentary paying tribute to the original show, and looking at how influential it was back in the 1980s.

I’m looking forward to it.

Richard Madeley’s on Radio 2 in 10 minutes, so I’m going to put the radio on now.

Speak soon,

FH.
